For Children, Ages 5+
Lessons that keep children curious — where progress comes from play, not pressure. I teach the child in front of me, at the pace that keeps them coming back.
From the five-year-old who can't sit still yet to the ten-year-old ready for real repertoire, I meet each child where they are. With a Master's in music pedagogy and training in the Orff, Kodály, and Suzuki methods, I draw on whatever helps that particular child — games, movement, listening, and gradually, the notes on the page. Parents are always welcome to watch.
“We met Ms Ceren about two years ago; thanks to her, my daughter came to love the piano. She is a teacher who can connect with every age group. So glad she touched our lives ❤️🙏”— Ms Işıl, Melisa's (5) Mother
What a lesson looks like
A children's lesson moves — a warm-up game, focused work on a piece, something creative to finish. Young children learn through their bodies and ears long before they read music, so we start there. I keep the difficulty just ahead of where they are: hard enough to stay interesting, easy enough to keep their confidence intact. The goal isn't a perfect recital next month; it's a child who still wants to play next year.

Lessons take place at my studio on Deichstraße 32 in central Hamburg. For home lessons I travel across the city — students come to me from these districts and the neighbourhoods around them:

Around five for most children, but readiness matters more than age — attention span, hand size, and interest. I'm happy to do a trial and tell you honestly whether now is the right time or whether we should wait a few months.
Talent is wildly overrated as a predictor. What actually matters is steady practice and enjoyment, and that's something I can help build. Almost every child can learn to play well.
Short and regular beats long and rare, especially for kids. I give parents simple, low-pressure routines that work — and I keep lessons engaging enough that practice feels less like a chore.
Of course, especially with younger children. Many parents watch the first few lessons, then step back once their child settles in.
